So Thanksgiving weekend my husband and I both...at the SAME time mind you...came down with the tummy flu. He's not so helpful when sick. Not that I'm bitter or anything but I have to say I can't think of many things worse than trying to change a dirty diaper and tossing your cookies 30 seconds later with help from him only when yelling desperately. OK so I can think of a lot of things worse than that but I'm just being a little dramatic right now. It was NO fun. None at all. Oh yeah and I came down with a head cold at the same time which took forever to get over. Found some handy flu home remedy tips here. Whenever I feel something coming on I immediately make a pot of chicken soup, start drinking my tea, avoid sugar and dairy, and slather on Vick's Vapor Rub at night (yuk but it works).
The week that I was to be baking cookies and getting packages in the mail and doing Christmas cards...I sat on the sofa feeling cruddy and joined Facebook. Why oh why did I?? It is addictive I tell you. And apparently my computer caught my virus because it got sick too. Thank goodness that only took a few days to get over - that is where my hubby was very helpful...thank you honey! BTW Firefox rules! My computer runs so much faster. Who knew.
We did make it to Oregon (with an unexpected stay in Salt Lake City thanks to the hour long wait to de-ice the plane in Cincinnati). Oregon was great as always but there never seems to be enough time to see everyone. Hubby ended up working a lot on this trip so it made it even more difficult to get around to see folks. The grandmas had fun with Jack and it was a joy to visit with the friends and family we did get a chance to connect with. We miss Oregon much and it saddens our hearts every time we have to leave.
We're back home now settling into our routine once again. Jack just amazes us. He's not quite six and a half months old now and everyday he is learning something new. Completely bittersweet. All his little phases go by so quickly. I love watching him learn new things and interact more and yet I want him to stay just the way he is. Yesterday he pulled himself up on his knees for the first time. Yikes! He's going to be jetting around this place before I know it. He gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth...so close to crawling. He loves to laugh and talk and play and jump. He desperately wanted a sip out of my water glass yesterday...so I gave him one and then another and another...he thinks that's the greatest thing ever. Right now he's wiggling his way accross the floor. So much for the days of sitting him down to play and knowing he'll be in the same spot as I left him.
Anyway...I'll spare you, I need to get some things done around here and feed the kiddo. A little cleaning, ironing, emailing, and phone calls. Hope you have a marvelous and blessed day!
